Localization of free fatty acids taken up by human platelets.

چکیده
Human platelets take up and metabobound FFA. These findings suggested Iize long-chain free fatty acids (FFA). that a large portion of the platelet FFA Experiments in which platelets were uptake might be associated with the loaded with ‘4C-palmitate, homogenplatelet surface. Radioautography with ized, and then fractionated indicated electron microscopy using 3H-palmilarge amounts of membrane-bound tate-labeled platelets provided addiFFA. In other studies, platelet memtional evidence that much of the newly brane fractions took up FFA from incuincorporated FFA was associated with bation media containing albuminthe platelet surface.

Utilization of long-chain free fatty acids by human platelets.
There was a rapid net uptake of free fatty acid (FFA) by human platelets when long-chain FFA, bound to human serum albumin, were incubated with platelet suspensions. Results from experiments in which both palmitate and albumin were labeled indicated that the fatty acid dissociated from the protein during uptake. Much of the FFA taken up by the platelet in short-term incubations remained in unes...
متن کاملInhibition of platelet function by cis-unsaturated fatty acids.
The uptake of free fatty acids has previously been shown to affect the capping of lymphocytes, and there is evidence that different types of fatty acids may partition into separate lipid domains in cell surface membranes. In studies of gel-filtered human platelets, we found that cis-unsaturated fatty acids (1-35 microM) inhibited platelet shape change, aggregation, and secretion of 5-hydroxytry...
متن کاملThe incorporation of acetate and palmitate into lipids by human platelets.
The optimal conditions for the incorporation of acetate-1-(14)C and palmitic acid-1-(14)C into platelet lipids have been described. In buffer incubations with acetate there was a sharp pH optimum at 6.8; in plasma incubations, there was a broad pH optimum between 6.8-7.4. Maximal incorporation of acetate occurred at a final concentration of 1.5 mmoles/liter. In buffer, no labeled lipids were re...
متن کاملThe Effects of Simvastatin on Free Fatty Acids Profile in Fructose-fed Insulin Resistant Rats
Backgrounds: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease and free fatty acids, as signaling molecules, can play a crucial role in the development of it. Different free fatty acids, through various cell membrane receptors, induce different effects on metabolic pathways and thereby affect insulin sensitivity. Simvastatin is a cholesterol decreasing drug prescrib...
متن کاملInhibitory effect of citric acid on rancidity of frozen catfish (Silurus glanis)fillets
The effect of aqueous solution of citric acid (CA) on the lipid stability of the European catfish (Silurus glanis) fillets during frozen storage (up to 6 months) was investigated. Rancidity development was measured by several biochemical indices (free fatty acids, peroxides and TBA) and complemented by the measurement of expressible moisture and sensory evaluation (flesh odor, consistency and f...
